Improve existing processes through daily process monitoring and analysis. Develop and standardize production and downtime reporting and develop improved visual management tools for sharing this data in near real time.
Conduct Root Cause Analysis (5 Why’s) for equipment and process failures.
Lead and participate in process troubleshooting; including mechanical, electrical, and process systems.
Collaborate with quality functions to optimize process capability relative to product specifications, and to maintain compliance with ISO 9001 requirements.
Lead trials to improve the plastic wash line, extrusion, material processing, blending and transfer functions within the plant(s). Apply structure using Design of Experiments and statistical analysis to improve decision making resulting from these trials.
Lead equipment upgrades, new equipment installations, and capital projects in the material processing (plastic recycling) area(s). Prepare capital requests as required.
Act as the Manufacturing Launch Manager for the introduction of new material streams, and processing methods. Ensure seamless implementation with injection molding operations.
Apply Lean methods to reduce waste process variability in practical and tangible ways. Develop and implement Standard Work Instructions. Implement Mistake Proofing (Poka-yoke) methods to reduce process variables. Improve plant cleanliness through 5S methods. Lead and participate in Rapid Improvement Events.
BS in Engineering; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
Two to five years’ experience in industrial process engineering; preferably post-consumer plastic recycling.
Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Root Cause Analysis.
Exposure to Lean and Six Sigma a plus. Willingness to lead in and organization committed to the practical use of Lean and Six Sigma methods, a must.
Must have the ability to interpret, analyze, and present data to leadership and operations personnel. Open to the development of statistical analysis skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Experience with CAD software; creating and updating piping and instrumentation diagrams a plus.
Willing to work flexible hours as required by ongoing operations and projects. Provide support to off-shift and week-end as required in a 24/7 operation.
Willing to work in a hands-on Process Engineering role; primarily in a production environment.
Must demonstrate the ability to lead team(s) and coordinate team members activities.
Experience in thermoplastics, compounding, extrusion, polyethylene, polypropylene, HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, or polymers would be a plus.
