Function:

Job Description

Supervises and coordinates activities of production workers.  Oversees all functions of the department and ensures continues flow of quality product. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Analyzes production schedules and assigns jobs and personnel for completion of orders by shipment dates.
  • Assigns duties and examines work for accuracy, efficiency and conformance to specifications.
  • Interprets specifications and work order information.
  • Interprets and enforces company policies and safety regulations.
  • Recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Analyzes and assists employees in resolving work related conflicts.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Estimates, requisitions and inspects shop supplies.
  • Determines required staffing levels.  Interviews and selects employees to fill vacant positions.
  • Conducts evaluations of employee’s performance and corrective action.
  • Facilitates performance improvement through coaching and mentoring.
  • Cooperates with other departments and personnel to meet customer requirements.
  • Trains, coaches, and mentors lead operator staff.
  • Interprets and enforces company policies and safety regulations.
  • Cooperates with other departments and personnel to meet customer requirements.
  • Promotes the quality system and follows quality system guidelines.  Ensures staff is educated and understands quality system requirements.

 

 

 

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

Job Requirements

 

  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must have good communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must have the ability to organize and direct the activities of others.
  • Ability to work on all shifts, as needed or assigned.
  • Must be able to manage time and projects.
  • Must be self-directed. 
  • Must have a basic understanding of production processes.
  • Must have basic supervisory knowledge.
  • Must be able to perform root cause analysis.
  • Must have basic computer skills (MRPII, process monitoring, word processing, etc.) and be able to use portions that are applicable to job function.
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs. frequently and to push or pull 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent.  Associates degree preferred.
  • Requires minimum one year of experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment.  At least six months experience in the plastics industry and/or supervisory position preferred.
