Job Description

 

Our client, a custom rubber mixer, supplying both black and colored rubber to customers has an opening for a Plant Chemist.  You will be responsible for performing physical property and chemical testing; helping with batch mixing and developing rubber formulations (nitrile, EPDM, TPE). 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Develop and improve rubber formulations while managing the systems that interface with quality and production. 
  • Lead the research and development efforts of rubber compounds for various applications.
  • Assist Technical Director with continuous improvement and cost reduction projects.
  • Collaborate with supply chain to evaluate new and alternative materials.
  • Work with production team to ensure mixing efficiencies are met.
  • Responsible for maintaining all laboratory equipment.
  • Provide internal and external technical support.

 

 

 

 

Requirements:

Job Requirements

 

 

  • B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Rubber Technology, or related degree
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a rubber development or testing environment.
  • Intermediate or higher level knowledge of rubber compounding, mixing technologies, and rubber processing (extrusion, vulcanization, injection molding, etc.) covering diverse markets and polymers (NBR, SBR, EPDM, CPE, and NR).
  • Some experience related to business development, customer relations, or direct support to these functions is also highly desirable. 
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder to be considered for this opportunity.
