Main Functions: In this role, the Sales Representative is responsible for increasing client’s market penetration in the defined territory by working with the existing customer base and developing new accounts.
Reports to: Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Research and become knowledgeable of new construction projects within the region utilizing the knowledge base tools provided by client as well as other construction data reports.
Cultivate relationships with all current customers within the region—understand their business, their needs, and opportunities of how we can serve them better, providing training as required.
Understand the complete distribution network within the region.
Identify, and develop new customer accounts within the region to facilitate further market penetration and sales growth. Provide training and product demonstrations as required.
Responsible for achieving annual sales and profit goals.
Develop and maintain full business pipeline of prospective accounts while using CRM.
Provide timely reporting of accounts and territory activity to supervisor.
Always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray client in a positive manner.
Actively manage call schedule to adequately cover assigned territory in a time-efficient manner.
Build and maintain ongoing awareness of new products and services, competitor activities, and other research.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum of five years of direct work experience in building products or related field.
Demonstrated ability to convert prospects and close deals while meeting established sales quotas.
Professional demeanor, selling style, and appearance, with high level of integrity and work ethic.
Solid experience in opportunity qualification (often involving multiple key decision makers), pre-visit planning, call control, account development, and time and territory management.
Strong knowledge of sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques and have problem identification and objection resolution skills.
Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers, using exceptional listening, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.
Self-motivated, with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm, with the ability to work individually, and as part of a team.
Able to perform basic calculations and mathematical figures and be detail oriented.
Able to manage multiple priorities, be self-motivated and highly organized, able to work independently and adaptable to a diverse and demanding environment.
College degree preferred, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
Proficient in MS Office Suite, and ability to navigate the web and construction data reports.
Must possess a valid driver’s license, and a passport is desirable.
Frequent travel (as much as 50% or more) is required, often up to several hours of driving per day.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sales or a Business-related field or equivalent education and experience.
Proficient with internet research and MS Office – Outlook, Word, and Excel.
1 – 5 years of sales experience.
