Well established company in the medical industry has an outstanding opportunity available for a Project Engineer. This position will provide engineering support and expertise to our existing manufacturing processes and new product development initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Project Engineer provides engineering support and expertise to existing manufacturing processes and new product development initiatives.
Each Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in designing manufacturing processes for new products and transitions them from pre-production to production release.
Perform process design, develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, cost reduction initiatives and quality improvements and control standards.
Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
Define fixture designs and automation in conjunction with the cost and time constraints of the project, and review and present alternatives while providing return on investment documentation.
Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
Communicate project timelines, DFMA issues, technical information, and work closely with our internal teams and external customers throughout the development and production of product.
Assist in the development and facilitate the implementation of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing concepts within the manufacturing environment.
Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
Create and execute qualification plans (IQ/OQ/PQ) to ensure quality products are produced throughout the life of the project.
Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
Defining preventative maintenance needs through manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and researching new products.
Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related results, as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering (equivalent work experience may be considered)
2+ years related manufacturing engineering experience required.
2+ years of experience in defining, set-up, and implementation of work cells in a manufacturing environment.
A comprehensive knowledge of process development and automation.
Process Validation (IQ, OQ, PQ)
Demonstrated ability to identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Excellent project management and communication skills.
Comprehensive skills using Microsoft Office programs, basic CAD knowledge (SolidWorks or Creo a plus), and the ability to understand specialized programs used in custom equipment.
Ability to work with all levels of the organization, understand and interpret technical data, and gather and analyze data to prove and provide solutions.
Experience in automation, complex assemblies, plastic joining processes, and robotics and PLC programming a plus.
The person must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds unaided.
