The Maintenance Manager supervises and assists in the completion of the day-to-day activities involving the maintenance of the building/facility, production equipment and machinery, and blown film extrusion lines. The position supervises and coordinates the work of employees who repair and maintain building/facility, equipment, and machinery to support the achievement of the company’s business goals and quality production standards.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: |
- Directly supervises employees in the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; interviewing, hiring, and training employees; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees.
- Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
- Receives and logs work orders, assigns work orders for completion and tracks work order status.
- Directs maintenance on systems to provide continuous supply of heat, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
- Directs workers and contractors engaged in buildings and maintenance repair.
- Reviews production, and maintenance reports to plan and modify maintenance activities.
- Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
- Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities: |
- Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
- Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance schedule program for applicable equipment and machinery.
- Capable of performing all the duties of a Maintenance Technician
- Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Product Safety / Quality Responsibilities: |
- Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
- Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations.
- High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.
- Four plus years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some PLC experience and HVAC.
- Minimum of 5 years management experience mandatory.
- Blown film extrusion experience a must.
Equipment maintenance, technical understanding, safety, power tool operation, attention to detail, flexibility, productivity, dependability, integrity, professionalism, problem solving.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: |
While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
While performing duties, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
