The Maintenance Manager supervises and assists in the completion of the day-to-day activities involving the maintenance of the building/facility, production equipment and machinery, and blown film extrusion lines. The position supervises and coordinates the work of employees who repair and maintain building/facility, equipment, and machinery to support the achievement of the company’s business goals and quality production standards.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Directly supervises employees in the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; interviewing, hiring, and training employees; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees.
Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
Receives and logs work orders, assigns work orders for completion and tracks work order status.
Directs maintenance on systems to provide continuous supply of heat, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
Directs workers and contractors engaged in buildings and maintenance repair.
Reviews production, and maintenance reports to plan and modify maintenance activities.
Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance schedule program for applicable equipment and machinery.
Capable of performing all the duties of a Maintenance Technician
Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Product Safety / Quality Responsibilities:
Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations.
High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.
Four plus years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some PLC experience and HVAC.
Minimum of 5 years management experience mandatory.
Blown film extrusion experience a must.
Equipment maintenance, technical understanding, safety, power tool operation, attention to detail, flexibility, productivity, dependability, integrity, professionalism, problem solving.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
While performing duties, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
