An industry leader in CNC machined goods has an on-site opportunity available for a Manufacturing Engineer. You will responsible for planning, coordinating machining processes, department improvement. Must be a Green Card Holder or US Citizen – No sponsorship available.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of part to determine fixturing and tooling requirements, design work holding fixtures for machining using drawing datum features to locate part and maintain dimensional accuracy. Uses tooling balls and locating holes in fixtures for improved set-up accuracy.
Determines reference points, creates CNC programs controlling configuration of cuts using tooling selected, using machine speeds and feed rates to achieve an efficient, stable process that yields consistent part quality and tool life.
Works with quality department to develop inspection plan for critical features to be checked in machine at set-up to ensure first part produced is within specifications.
Writes detailed instruction sheets and tool lists to guide set-up and operation of machine, define work coordinate origins, outline detailing sequence of operation, providing special instructions where relevant.
Assists operators with any process issues to improve productivity; develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
Helps develop and improve the skills of all CNC department personnel.
Evaluates employee-training needs and provides training within area of responsibility.
Revises programs to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.
Organizes and maintains storage of all NC/CNC programs and instruction set-up
Assumes supervision duties of department when manager is absent, directs
personnel, and determines priorities based on production requirements.
Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
Confers with tool manufacturing representatives to ensure proper usage of tooling and efficient production methods.
Reports equipment problems to department manager by maintenance request.
Assists with estimates for new machining projects and determines the method of manufacturing and routed times for various work centers used for production. Uses experience as needed to advise estimating personnel and improve our quote accuracy.
Requirements:
Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four to five years related experience and/or training and a High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience using computer applications, including Microsoft Office, Mastercam, and SolidWorks software.
