Function:

Growing plastics company in Southern California has an excellent opportunity available for a Production Manager. Responsible for the management of plant operations to include molding, value-added services, warehousing, shipping/receiving, safety and maintenance. Establish plant policies and procedures. Responsible for plant production goals. Foster a well-trained and motivated staff.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Direct and coordinate plant operations within company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Establish and direct plant policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for plant production goals.
  • Foster a well-trained and motivated staff.
  • Confer with department managers to ensure coordination of purchasing, production and shipping.
  • Responsible for establishing all shift production schedules.
  • Select and train plant staff.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Schedule and conduct plant meetings.
  • Responsible for product quality within the plant.
  • Coordinate and/or attend meetings with personnel, suppliers, trade organizations or others as required.
  • Develops, communicates, teaches and implements sound and safe manufacturing processes.
  • Recommends, develops and implements verifiable continuous improvement plans to processes, plant and/or equipment.
  • Acquires required knowledge or skills to implement future plans.
  • Implements corrective actions in a timely and effective manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

 

Requirements:

  • Direction of plant operations requires significant manufacturing and molding knowledge as well as sound interpersonal, management and leadership skills. This is normally acquired by seven to ten years of plastics experience, which includes management responsibility.

  • Excellent problem solving skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

  • Ability to understand technical specification including MIL, ANSI, and customer specific aerospace criteria.

  • Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel within and outside the company.

  • Demonstrated personal computer proficiency using various software programs including Microsoft Office, Photo Editing and ERP.

  • Proven track record as a customer advocate.

  • Experience in plastic injection molding, composites, polyethylene, polypropylene, HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, nylon, polymers, thermoplastics, thermosets, compression, extrusion or polyolefins preferred.
