Very large and growing company with over 13,000 employees is searching for a Manufacturing Engineer in the Charlotte, NC area. Provides engineering support to operations. Plans and designs manufacturing processes, equipment, and industrial services in a facility focused on injection molding and secondary finishing operations. Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization. Determines parts and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.


Job Elements & Position Responsibilities:


  • Support and adhere to all system procedures and company policies/procedures.
  • Provides functional leadership for manufacturing engineering activities; including tool commissioning and refurbishment projects, assembly fixture design and build, and job set-up related processes.
  • Provide leadership for ongoing continuous improvement activities to include variance reduction, scrap reduction and throughput improvements.
  • Provide input to and participate in the process planning and creation of product routing.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Participates in the analysis and planning of work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workstations for optimal throughput and efficiency.
  • Plans and managed work transfers and new work introduction on-time and within budget.
  • Provides team leadership for projects including developing and setting team roles, goals, and objectives in keeping with project scope.
  • Work across all necessary functional departments on establishing countermeasures as needed to enable the delivery of quality products on-time.
  • Confers with job specifications, tooling prints, engineering requirements.       Assist in determination of root cause of persistent problems.
  • Answers any production questions regarding engineering, designs, work instructions, and tooling requirements.
  • All other duties as assigned.


  • BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred five years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Academic and practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles.
  • Thorough knowledge in the use of CAD/Solid Modeling Software such as ACAD or SolidWorks.
  • A demonstrated record of achievement in manufacturing and problem solving with production teams.
  • Black Belt/Six Sigma certified and experience in continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen preferred.
  • PMP, PMI or other project management certification is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Thorough knowledge of SAP ERP Systems.
  • Effective analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO based Quality Systems.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite.
  • Experience in product and process failure analysis and an understanding of world-class manufacturing techniques such as Lean Manufacturing, 5S, FMEA, Gemba, JIT, SPC, TQM, etc.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships in a manufacturing environment.
  • Professional and optimistic attitude; ability to work in a team environment.
