Function:

Fast growing company in Connecticut with an 8% compounded growth that is heavily involved in the medical industry is searching for a Project Manager/Engineer with plastic injection molding experience.  The successful candidate will need to oversee and manage a project from the initial customer request through the final end product.  This individual must have a strong working knowledge with mold configuration and layout, molding process capabilities and engineered resins.  They will be the focal point for the project which will include holding customer meetings, gathering internal and external product input, offering design solutions for both mold and part, coordinating and maintaining mold build schedules and providing any additional engineering support to meet or exceed work with cross-functional groups with a team work approach to assure success.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Assist in achieving short-term strategic company profit and growth goals

Planning, coordination and execution of new injection molding and assembly projects

Advise customers on design for manufacture improvements

Achieve quality, cost and delivery goals for new product development

Independently conceptualize and conduct improvement projects to resolve quality issues, reduce manufacturing costs and increase throughput

Establish cost, schedule and validation plans and prepare customer project plans

Act as primary customer project liaison

Provide internal cross-functional project communication and team updates

Supplier selection and management.  Quality improvements and cost reductions

Production scheduling customer/operation interface during product development and start-up phases

Team building training and mentoring of shop floor associates and co-workers

Identify, evaluate and develop new business opportunities

Provide routine customer written project status updates

Develop new products to a steady state process capable status

Manage on-time invoicing and payments on new tooling and development

Requirements:

BSME degree or equivalent

10+ years minimum technical experience in the development and manufacture of precision injection molded products and associated tooling and processes

5+ years’ experience in leading new product development teams

Detailed knowledge of injection mold design, tool materials and practices, and mold process parameter development

In-depth knowledge of plastic materials properties and selection

Extensive experience in process capability development and product and process validation

Proficient in geometric tolerancing, measurement systems and inspection methods

Broad experience in assembly and decoration processes including insert molding, ultrasonic welding, adhesive bonding, pad printing and automated assembly

Project management skills including proficiency in MS Projects
